SECOND SKIN

AFTERCARE

Keep it on for 3-5 days, and wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid abrasion to the bandage.

While the bandage is on, you will notice the surface underneath accumulate slight moisture, causing the tattoo to appear blurry. This is plasma building up from your skin, pulling up micro-fragments of ink. It’s completely normal and helps with the healing process.

The second skin is waterproof, if water gets in please remove it and follow up with the aftercare.

If a red border appears, this means you are allergic to the second skin. This happens when you have adhesive allergies. Please remove the skin if this happens and follow up with the aftercare, the redness will go away. When getting another tattoo, tell your artist you get these allergies when getting second skin.

Avoid excessive cardio/exercising as sweat can get trapped inside the second skin.

To remove the second skin, place it under running water and pull it down or lift it. The skin has to stay flat when removing the second skin.

TATTOO AFTERCARE

Once the second skin is removed, wash the tattoo in lukewarm water with antibacterial/non-fragrant soap. Dial gold hand soap works well.

Let the tattoo air dry or pat it dry with a paper towel.

Apply a small amount of Aquaphor or any tattoo aftercare lotion. Spread it around the tattoo with clean hands. Don’t over-saturate the tattoo with the lotion.

Keep using the Aquaphor and washing it at least twice a day, for a week.

After the week, you can switch to a non-fragrant lotion like Eucerin or Lubiderm.

The tattoo will itch and scab, please refrain from scratching it.

Avoid submerging your tattoo in water or exposing it to direct sunlight for prolonged periods, for a full month. Water exposure can cause serious and life-threatening infections and direct sunlight can overly dry the healing area, or cause premature fading.

Once the tattoo is healed in three weeks, if you’re going to tan, please remember to apply sunblock.

Touch-ups are available if needed after it heals in a month. Please get in touch with your artist directly and send them pictures of the tattoo looks.
